Don't ask why I was looking at the sky but I noticed it. It stays in one general area. It will shift to the right and then the left, but it just stays there. The red flashes in a circular motion and green will appear every now and then. I think it looks flat looking, and so does my daughter. ANy ideas? For the last 2 nights I have seen an object in the sky that has red and green light flashing around it.?
*GASP* I THINK I SAW IT TOO!!! ITS A UFO!!!

Bright stars (like Sirius) that are low on the horizon will flash red and blue and sometimes other colors. This happens because of the 'twinkling'. Twinkling occurs because the light from the star is being randomly bent by turbulence in the atmosphere, just like how the horizon shimmers on a hot day. Twinkling becomes more pronounced as the star is closer to the horizon, and when the atmosphere is cold and clear. If the star is bright, then the light from the star is broken up just like sunlight through a prism, and the colors are bright enough to trigger the color receptors in your eyes.
Well..I've seen something like that around my area before. It looks pretty neat..and even more so in binoculars.
According to individuals in my local astronomy club...the red and green flashing is a result of the turbulent atmosphere. I believe the object you see is fairly low in the sky..but not too low.
The flashing is a result of atmospheric fluctuations.
Congratulations! You have seen an aircraft!

Well, no worries. We have that exact same thing here. It's a simple ';pole'; type object. It's for the drivers of helicopters %26amp; airplanes. It's fine. Just that sorta thing.
It's a star
